DeLaval equips 200 Chinese Village Milking Centres
DeLaval China has signed a US$3.6 million deal with Inner Mongolia Mengniu Milk Industry (Group) Co., Ltd to equip 200 Village Milking Centres. DeLaval service staff has already started installing the equipment at the farms situated in Inner Mongolia and Shan Xi province in the north of China. In total there will be 2 800 milking units and 11 200 clusters delivered to the local sites.
With five million dairy cows, an increasing consumption of dairy products and a growing demand for quality milk, Village Milking Centres are fast becoming important in China. A Village Milking Centre consists of milking machines, cleaning units, hygiene packages, bulk milk coolers and milk analysers. Local farmers bring their cows to the VMC where the milk is collected and efficiently cooled to ensure milk quality. The concept is a true win-win situation for producers, collectors and processors.
The Inner Mongolia Mengniu Milk Industry (Group) Co., Ltd is the largest corporation in the Chinese dairy industry with a turnover of US$1.25 billion in 2004. DeLaval and Mengniu have enjoyed a close business relationship since 2001.
