December 3, 2004

Ralph Höglund, Director of Tetra Laval Group Transport & Travel, receives World Wildlife Fund environmental award

The Carl Mannerfelt Environmental Award is an annual award given to an individual who has successfully combined nature conservation and environmental control with technical and economical development. This year the award was given to Ralph Höglund who, together with his group in Lund, has succeeded in bringing about measurable effects and environmental collaboration – throughout the whole supplier chain – when purchasing transport- and travel services.

Ralph Höglund is the Director of Tetra Laval Group Transport & Travel (GT&T) that has fifteen employees in Lund. The group is responsible for sourcing transport, travel and international removals for Tetra Pak, DeLaval och Sidel.

As a large purchaser of services, GT&T has been able to place demands on their suppliers. What distinguishes Ralph and his group, is that they are leaders in the field of transport when influencing suppliers regarding their environmental work, as well as quality and cost efficiency.

- This is an acknowledgement of me and my group and that the work we have performed has been right. The appreciation from the World Wildlife Fund, The Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences and The Confederation of Swedish Enterprise will make it easier to work further with these questions, says Ralph, who received the award in November at a ceremony in Stockholm. The award was handed out by Ebba Lindsö, MD of The Confederation of Swedish Enterprise.

The jury’s motivation

Ralph Höglund has, in an innovative and active way, placed environmental demands and pressure on both large and small suppliers of Tetra Pak within the field of transport. Important knowledge about environmental consideration has spread, like rings on water, from the core business of the company in Sweden throughout the world. Ralph has through his drive and untiring commitment created environmental commitment in the purchase of transport- and travel services throughout the whole supplier chain. With a strong environmental interest he has succeeded in proving that a longterm perspective and a comprehensive view in environmental performance can provide concrete results. Ralph Höglund has deserved the appreciation he has widely received under the motto ”Conservation and Development”.

The prize winner is appointed by a jury consisting of members of the WWF, The Confederation of Swedish Enterprise, The Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences and a personal representative of Carl Mannerfelt.
